Scoring with Pro Bono Projects

Entertainment 1 Comment

When we founded ProMotion Arts we made a commitment to do at least some pro bono projects without charge for interesting and worthwhile clients. Over the years we’ve stuck with that commitment in good times and in bad. Early on it was tough because it sometimes meant giving up paying jobs that might have made our life easier. After all, revenue is king in a small business. In the long run our commitment paid off as we gained a reputation for our philanthropy and were able to attract larger clients who shared our values and vision.

While many of these donated projects went to local non-profits like FareStart, Woodland Park Zoo, DECA Washington, and Mount St. Vincent, our philanthropy reached as far afield as Africa (where we created an outreach video for an AIDS orphanage in Uganda), and nationally in support of programs like Taste of the Nation and Chef’s Night Out which work to end hunger.

One of our more recent projects was a little different. It involved producing a promotional video for one of Seattle’s great hidden sports gems, the Seattle Majestics. While men’s football may have mega salaries and huge stadiums, the Majestics prove that women can be just as tough and twice as dedicated. While they don’t have the big sponsorship dollars associated with the pro leagues, the Majestics are an important and vital part of Seattle’s sports tradition. We were happy to do our part to support this amazing group of athletes.

I never knew about the Majestics or the IWFL before seeing this video. That could just be because I’m not much into sports. Regardless, the clip held me captivated while I was introduced to them and the league.
