Once again, ProMotion Arts has teamed up with Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre to produce a commercial for their new production: Rodgers and Hammerstien’s Oklahoma. It’s always very exciting to work closely with such an iconic organization in the Pacific Northwest, and of course we’re happy to help promote the arts in any form.

Last week the Wall Street Journal reported that Union Square Ventures (USV) recently remodeled its application process. Instead of having applicants submit a resume online, the company wanted to see respondents web presence. This required applicants to submit examples such as their Twitter account or Tumbler blog. In addition to these examples, applicants had to submit a video communicating their interest in the position.

And the position that was trying to be filled? Investment analyst. The theory behind this application process is that USV believes it yields better candidates for the position.

There has been a trend in utilizing video in order to get to know the applicant. Reality and game show producers have been using submitted videos for years to help select their next guests, but whether or not video is the application process of corporate future, we will have to wait and see.

Awaiting the inbox of many Gmail users this morning was an email from Google announcing its new privacy policy. The email read:

We’re getting rid of over 60 different privacy policies across Google and replacing them with one that’s a lot shorter and easier to read. Our new policy covers multiple products and features, reflecting our desire to create one beautifully simple and intuitive experience across Google.

We believe this stuff matters, so please take a few minutes to read our updated Privacy Policy and Terms of Service at http://www.google.com/policies. These changes will take effect on March 1, 2012.

The new policy extends to ALL products, services, and websites offered not just by Google Inc. but all its subsidiaries or affiliated companies. Will this development change your online behavior? Let us know in the comments below.

While the first month of 2012 is almost over, it is never to late to set goals and create a plan of how to accomplish those goals.

When starting the goal setting process whether it’s personal, professional, or corporate one of the most important elements is to make the goal measurable. Here are a few tips to help set those goals for 2012.

1. Be Specific
2. Attach a date to your goal
3. Focus the goal towards a desired outcome.

 How are you continuing to work towards your goals?

• That the superstition is a combination of two old superstition: thirteen as an unlucky number, and Friday as an unlucky day.
• When the popular novel by Thomas W. Lawson Friday, the Thirteenth, was published in 1907.

Wherever its origin, the superstition has held some influence. Whether it is a person’s decision not to travel on Friday the Thirteenth or a Hollywood producer creating a major film franchise inspired by the day, it is hard not to notice where the thirteenth falls on the calendar.
