Creating video content has become more accessible to the general public. It is possible for the average user to aquire a media device (cell phone, camera, video recorder, etc…), record footage and share it with the online community. YouTube has dominated the realm of video content, and continues to develop tools that increase the experience of both user and viewer.
Recently, YouTube introduced a video editing feature. This new feature will provide users the tools neccessary to edit their video content, while maintaining the existing video ID, allowing users to keep existing comments and view counts. The aim of the new feature is to give users a tool that will allow them to polish their videos in a less time consuming manner, it does not seek to replace editing software such as Final Cut Pro.
Editing features include stabilizing hand-held footage, rotating the video, boost colors and contrasts, and the ability to add filters. YouTube also incorporated a function giving users the ability to return to the original video, just in case the they are unhappy with the edits made.
While this new feature does not offer professional level editing, it will be a great tool for many in the YouTube community. Have you tried this new feature? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
